As a forum for independent fashion, Shop 172 aims to provide a creative platform and highlight quality craftsmanship and innovative design. Balancing between minimalistic elegance and more playful aesthetics derived from the street, we select garments by a range of internationally based fashion brands. We are convinced that the apparent presence of the creator adds a certain value. The accuracy in a small-scale production and the energy in a label working on their third or fourth collection will always affect the outcome. Significant for our assortment is therefore experimental fabrics and handmade one-off items. The collections we stock are to large extent made by young designers, graduated from respected fashion schools located in London, such as Central St Martins and London School of Fashion. The artistic quarters of East London gather creative minds and the area works as a source of inspiration for many.
Since the opening in 2006, the shop has become the East End's premier distributer of unique and unconventional garments.
