SHOP172 lookbook video - East End des-Prés

Monday, 22 August 2011

When thinking of Hemingway in Paris or Rimbaud in Soho, it indeed seems like sometimes it takes a foreigner to capture the essence of a city. Searching for such a keen, unspoilt eye, Shop 172 invited the Parisian video artist Yvan Tavel to visit Shoreditch's exuberant fashion scene and add his cinematic je ne sais quoi to its ambience. The intensive work of two cameras, one director, a producer, a stylist, a hair stylist and make-up specialist resulted in one of the most unique depictions of our beloved East London that you will ever see. We are proud to present Yvan's two short films 'Dance' and Mathilda' exclusively on our website to launch this exciting collaboration where film meets fashion.

'DANCE'

In 'Dance' we witness a romantic encounter between Sara and Sebastian who meander through the East End's streets in a wonderful dérive that finishes with an enchanted dance on a sunlit terrace. Sara is wearing a Claudia Ligari jumpsuit and open shoulder jacket, covering her beautiful side mesh dress. The long dress is by Guell Mustard and our masterful Yuko Yoshitake provided the silver bow tie. Sebastian sports a navy jacket, followed by a knitted coat and leather jacket, all by Laria Lepore. His shirt, cardigan and lovingly tailored jacket are by Yuko Yoshitake and his pleated white shirt is provided by Fore. Accessories are all by KAPOW!WOW!

'MATHILDA'

In 'Mathilda' a young girl is walking through the typically grey Shoreditch Streets until she finds her way into our shop where our independent designer fashion adds some colour to her day. Mathilda wears a lovely black dress by Fore. Yuko Yoshitake provides her Navy Coat, Patch Pocket Jacket and Bow Tie. Her long pink top is by Guell Mustard and all accessories like the beautiful cup cake beret are by Migh T.

The music for both films is expertly made by the Parisian band 'Parisse' to fit Yvan's very personal aesthetic. This cinematic collaboration is only the first from an intended series, so tell us what you think. And, as always, come down and get Parisian with us!
