Mighty ancient wonders

Saturday, 18 February 2012

The previous Saint Martins student Kumiko Watari is one of our absolute favourite London stars and her adorable naive illustrations ever-present at Shop 172. Although the humorous twist seen in Migh-T can be recognized as a Japanese heritage it must be said that Watari’s artistic background and interest in traditional craft techniques contributes to the brands uniqueness and each new collection offers insight into a new world. It is therefore always a pleasure to receive her colourful and imaginative creations. This season we are happy as ever to see a particular sense of spring, full of pineapples, lips, birds and monsters. See Ancient Wonders at Shop 172.

Kokon to East

Kokon To Zai / KTZ A/W11 London Fashion Week from PRICKIMAGE on Vimeo.

Kokon To Zai means “from here to there” and refers to movement or transgression. We won’t deny that transgressive is possibly the best word to describe the force behind these spectacular cult stores. Situated in Paris and in West London they are now renowned for a unique assortment of fashion and music.

Knowing that Kokon To Zai has previously been strongly associated with the cultural life and creative energy that can be found in East London we are, at Shop 172, especially proud to finally bring them to the area.

The force in KTZ is the collaboration between Macedonian Sasko Bezovski and Marjan Pejoski as well as Japanese Koji Maruyama. With prestigious degrees from fashion school Central Saint Martins in combination with a background in architecture they create garments that can be described as expressive. All their collections have a story behind them and the particular graphical clothes are meant to follow and transform with the wearer’s feelings and ideas. These are now to be found in Shop 172. Follow the movement to East.
