Winter with Andrea Crews

Winter has come and with the windows full of yarn tassels and woolen mittens, Shop 172 would like to recommend some wrapping for frosty nights.

It's always a pleasure to receive garments from Andrea Crews. The French art collective, led by Maroussi Rebecq, experiments not only with fashion but also with performance, film and political activism. The spectacular winter collection is calledLes Morts Vivants de la Mode” (The Living Dead of Fashion). It contains, besides silk scarfs with Michael Jackson motives and undead velvet T-shirts also fluffy snow ball hoods to protect against cold winds and jogging suits merged with traditional Norwegian knitwear, great for mulled wine drinking and Sunday flower shopping.

Like a bizarre collage this experimental, unique and fun collection mixes everything. We wish your body and heart a warm and cheerful winter. Welcome to Shop 172.

Riyka the diamond

Tuesday, 22 November 2011

Lately, every eye has been fixed on Israel. For the first time it is not politics that attracts the world’s interest, but exuberant creativity and quality design. We are proud to present one of the diamonds.

Born in the UK but growing up in Israel, Rebecca Johnson in particular, developed an interest in cultural exchange. After receiving a degree at Shenker College of Design, she moved back to London. Her work with the brand Riyka reflects her fascination with ethnic diversity. Making use of elements that recur in several cultures she creates flexible and timeless collections. Denim and leather in geometrial patterns are both durable and logical. Just like dimonds. These are garments we can carry throughout life.
